Enrique R Grullon is a innovation entrepreneur with 20 years experience in the Communication, Interactive, Development & Internet industries. At 15 years old he created and designed the women's streetwear clothing brand Girlie Q. Within 12 months the company had a global presence of 40 boutique retailers including Urban Outfitters throughout the United States. Fashion Design became Graphic Design after the creation of the Girlie Q brand took a priority to clothing design. In 1997 he began to consult & design for advertising agencies in Southern California. In 1998 he made his first website and by 2000 he worked exclusively in web design and development.
At 23, in 2003, he became a grant holder to FABRICA, the Benetton Group's International Communication Research Center based in Treviso, Italy under the creative direction of the late and great Andy Cameron. Andy combined technical ability with creative thinking and taught us a hacker/artist ideology. After 18 months he was promoted to a Senior position and was responsible for the project leadership, design and development of commercial and artistic global initiatives such as the online presence of COLORS Magazine and United People, a public global video messaging system found in Benetton's flagship locations in 16 countries in 11 languages.
In 2004 he began to collaborate with San Francisco art collective FutureFarmers & Amy Francheschini. Founded in 1995, Futurefarmers is one of the original interactive studios. Besides their many artistic projects, they also created the now famous Twitter logo.
In 2006 he returned to Southern California to join Milk vs Logic, a newly created 4-person boutique interactive agency with US National accounts such as Sony Consumer Electronics & Ford Luxury Division creating online experiences for Young & Rubicam, Yahoo!, Sony's LocationFree TV & Land Rover.
In 2007 he then moved back to Italy, this time Milano, to focus on consulting & creating online and in-store interactive experiences for global fashion brands. He later joined TheBigSpace as Director of Solutions to develop and lead the design of cutting-edge consumer-facing RFID "smart fixtures" for global retailers. TheMagicMirror, their flagship product, created an immersive audio/visual experience for retail consumers when they approached TheMagicMirror with tagged merchandise. The system also provided retailers with real-time data about pre-purchase consumer behavior. Clients included Disney Italy, MTV Italy, Ralph Lauren, Diesel, JCPenny, Levi Strauss & Nike.
In 2009 he relocated to Los Angeles where he partnered with creative agencies like StreetVirus as an Interactive Consultant working on Blank You Very Much and projects for Friends Like You, Katy Perry and Ovation TV.
In 2011 he became the CTO of FunBuilt. A trans-media gaming startup based in Los Angeles. With $1.3M in funding, the company launched YourSay, a first-ever Facebook game with an integrated Reality TV show.
In the summer of 2012 Enrique relocated to the Dominican Republic to take the lessons he learned and observed as CTO to begin the research and development of what would become GIS|Hispaniola, an innovative destination mapping & directory platform. Essentially an idea that came about because he kept getting lost in the maze that is Santo Domingo.
